History of PAL

Dear Valued Customer,

We at PAL (Prime Arts Limited) thank you for your support of our products and services for over 35 years!

We have been a family-run business since 1972, when my Mom Diane Thompson started Prime Arts in our house manufacturing and selling ladies key chains. In the 1970’s, we branched out into publishing seven counted cross-stitch books and sold accessories to the books like magnets, paperweights and the original keychain. PAL also did a line of needlework kits for a special designed two sided keychain.

In 1982, my Dad Jerry Johnson took over and started Mats by PAL. He innovated PAL’s trademark Gold and Silver Label see-thru packaging pre-cut program for framing mats. Thanks to our customer’s loyalty, PAL has been a leader in the mat industry as one of the most complete lines of framing mats available in the country for over 25 years!

As PAL outgrew several locations in the early years, we always remained headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio. We’ve been located now on Rossash Road since 1990 (until we outgrow this one!)

We are always thinking up fun new products and bring you a wide variety of current color choices and styles. I hope you enjoy the 2007-2008 catalog with lots of terrific new products and our beautiful color chart with 100 colors.
